Degree Programs

The Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences offers 4 bachelor’s degree programs and 11 master’s degree programs in its major subjects. Bachelor’s students can take business administration, political science, sociology, and economics as minor subjects. The 3 departments (Socioeconomics, Social Sciences, and Economics) also contribute to other interfaculty and interdisciplinary degree programs.

The Faculty also offers degree components within the scope of the Hamburg Model for teaching degree programs, continuing education, and part-time degree programs for working professionals.

Bachelor's programs

The bachelor’s degree programs at the Faculty are designed to be completed within the regular 3-year (6-semester) period of study. Depending on the subject, they lead to a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc). Applicants without Abitur or an equivalent secondary school leaving certificate are required to take an entrance examination to be considered for a bachelor’s degree program.

Master’s degree programs at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences take 2 years (4 semesters) to complete. They lead to a Master of Arts (MA) or a Master of Science (MSc).
