Among the variety of research topics at the faculty, several subject areas stand out, in which the faculty distinguishes itself both in the number of participating researchers and in its scientific quality.

Many scientists of the WISO Faculty are successful both as project leaders and as participants in the acquisition of collaborative projects from various funding bodies, e.g. the DFG, the EU or the BMBF.

The institutional basis for good research is provided by two interdisciplinary research centers, the Center for Sustainable Society Research (CSS) and the Hamburg Center for Health Economics (HCHE).

The interdepartmental research laboratory - a unique resource for basic experimental research - provides comprehensive services for planning, design and implementation of experiments and surveys in the social and economic sciences.
