How do I become visible?
Help us make sure that your contact details are available throughout the University and beyond! This will help you settle in smoothly. You will be automatically included in all faculty mailing lists. Moreover, you should heed the following:
Staff directory
Every faculty employee gets an entry on the home page. This should at least comprise your work contact information. Many people use this to present their key research areas, publications, office hours, and further information. You decide what information you want to post and whether to include a picture. The professorships usually ensure that an employee entry is created on the home page under “Team.” Find out who is in charge of maintaining the webpages of the professorship you are working for. If entered correctly in a technical respect, your contact details will also be automatically displayed via the department and faculty staff directories to ensure you are easy to find.
Outlook address book
You will be automatically assigned an email address together with a uni username (B-Kennung) via the Regional Computing Center. Then you can be found in Universität Hamburg’s Outlook directory. However, it is standard to store only a few details there, and this information is rarely updated. It helps everyone if you complete and update the information provided in the Outlook address book regularly, such as your room and telephone number or the current description of your research area. Just click on “Catalog” in the RRZ ServicePortal, then select “Accounts” and add “Modify Account Attributes” to your shopping cart. An icon for the RRZ ServicePortal, also called the "RRZ Self Service Portal," is conveniently inserted on the desktop of your work computer. If you want to use another device, you must first set up a VPN connection with the University’s network.
Research Information System (FIS)
Use the Research Information System (FIS) consistently and your publications and further research contributions will be easily visible.
