Library and Research Information System (FIS)
Library services for academics
The Business, Economics and Social Sciences Library offers a range of services exclusively to academic staff in the faculties. These include ordering options for literature, information, and data as well as a range of electronic document delivery services. All these services are listed on the For Teaching Staff page. The checklist for new teaching staff is particularly useful for new academics, as it provides a step-by-step guide to help get the most use out of all services, including how to access electronic media.
Research Information System (FIS)
The Faculty and the University as a whole continuously enter our research achievements, in particular academic publications, into Universität Hamburg’s Research Information System (FIS). Once published in the FIS, the data can be used in multiple ways, for instance, to quickly assemble lists of achievements within the annual performance and workload-oriented resource distribution (LOMI) procedures. This information can easily be published as a FIS box on the homepage. You can also use FIS data for your own purposes, for instance to create a list of publications for your CV. Systematic use of FIS can be beneficial. In the end, the decision if and how to use FIS lies with you, as this is also a question of personal preferences in treating data.
The WiSo Library provides information and instructions for using the Research Information System (FIS) and regularly offers brief training sessions.
