How can service management research effectively address “grand challenges” in order to create social impact? The Journal of Service Management (JOSM) has published a call for papers for a Special Issue on this topic. The focus is on the processes, structures, and evaluation approaches needed in order for service management not only to improve organizational outcomes, but also to demonstrably contribute to change both for people and society – for example in the context of poverty, the refugee crisis, public health crises, and inequality.
Prof. Silke Boenigk, Prof. Rebekah Russell-Bennett, and Prof. Joy Parkinson will serve as the guest editor team for this Special Issue. The call explicitly emphasizes applied and transdisciplinary research as well as the importance of concrete, quantifiable effects within service systems.
The closing date for manuscript submissions is 30 March 2027.
