Three days, some 1,200 participants, and all kinds of interesting insights into blood donation: our research associate Sarah Fenske, who is involved in the Social Impact Research Lab (SIRL) research project, had the opportunity to attend the 59th Annual Meeting of the German Society for Transfusion Medicine and Immunohaematology (dgti) in Stuttgart from 23 to 25 September 2026, together with Dr. Sigrun Leipnitz and Anja Lambrecht of the DRK Blood Donation Service North-East.
The research group took the opportunity to present two of its projects. Sarah Fenske presented a poster on the topic of “How do people want to be involved (in blood donation)? An analysis of preference-based profiles,” while Dr. Sigrun Leipnitz presented “The Blood Donation Awareness Panel: a longitudinal study of public awareness of donation behavior in Germany.” The new head of the SIRL research group Engagement 2030, Anja Lambrecht, who took on this role just a few days before the conference, took the opportunity to network with people in the field and to dive into the world of blood donation. Welcome to the team, Anja!
We can look back on an inspirational conference and would very much like to thank the organizers!
