CAWI Software
The acronym CAWI stands for “computer-assisted web interview.” These are online surveys for which participants are invited to take part via email or by similar means. The interviewees fill out the questionnaires independently on Universität Hamburg’s web pages.
The Research Lab team at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences is ready to provide you with advice and support in the Survey Lab throughout the planning, performance, and evaluation of standardized online surveys (CAWI). In particular, we would be happy to support you with our expertise in the following:
- research project design
- operationalization
- questionnaire design and programming
- pretesting
- random-sample planning and procedure
- collection, preparation, analysis, and documentation of the data
We use the following software to perform CAWI surveys:
LimeSurvey
The WISO Survey Lab makes the software LimeSurvey (which offers a wide range of features for performing web-based surveys) available on its own server. The Research Lab provides support during the entire process, from the programming of the questionnaires to the field control to the data collection. The functions of LimeSurvey comprise:
- A wide range of question types, including item batteries, slider controls, and file uploads
- an unlimited number of administrators
- a detailed quota system for survey participants
