Scan & deliver service

Scan & deliver service (German only) is an electronic document delivery service which enables you to obtain scans of book chapters or journal articles via email from the Stabi and University of Hamburg libraries’ print collection. The service is free.

How do I use the Scan & deliver service?

Who can use the service?

This service is open to current members of the University of Hamburg community (faculty, students and staff). You need to have a valid library card for the University of Hamburg library system.

How do you request a scanned copy?

You can place a "Scan & deliver service" request through Katalogplus for all books and chapters marked with the “Liefern” icon.

  • Log in to your library account using your library card number and password.
  • Locate the relevant item record.
  • Click on the “Liefern” icon Symbol-Button für den Campuslieferdienst/ located on the right hand-side, next to the title.
  • Fill out the order form and click "Order".

When it is time to retrieve your scan, you will receive an email with a URL which will provide temporary access to the article or chapter in digital format. The PDF file of the article or chapter will be available on the server for a period of 30 days.

Please make sure that your order complies with the regulations in the Act on Copyright and Related Rights (Urheberrechtsgesetz – UrhG).

How long does it take until you can access the scanned copy?

Your requests will normally be fulfilled within five working days (Monday – Friday). This excludes weekends and any other University holidays.

Copyright notice

  • When using copyrighted works, please comply with the terms of the Act on Copyright and Related Rights (Urheberrechtsgesetz – UrhG), i.e. §60a-h stating that the scope of the scans may not exceed 75% of the total work for you own use or 15% of the total work for sharing with a defined group.
  • Please consult the Stabi information page "Informationen zum Urheberrecht" (German only) for more details on legal restrictions for using and reproducing works.
