Knowledge Exchange Fund projects

Call for Applications – Knowledge Exchange Fund 2023

The Knowledge Exchange Fund of the Universität Hamburg annually supports several transfer projects. The aim is to launch projects and initiatives that plan to seek opportunities for subsequent funding elsewhere. Since 2021, the Knowledge Exchange Fund has been supporting around 12 projects every year with seed funding of max. €30,000 each.

Application is open to members of all faculties. Encouraged are project ideas that focus on research designs, where non-scientific stakeholders play a crucial and active role in the knowledge generation, and aim at tangible transfer products such as tools for everyday life, mobility, teaching and work, or at concrete consulting services fostering the transformation of urban processes and practices.

Funding from the Knowledge Exchange Fund is awarded annually. For the upcoming funding period, you can submit a proposal until the 31 May 2023. Grants will be awarded at the end of July. The funding period is set from 1 Oct 2023 to 30 Jun 2024. Submit your application including a 2-page project outline and budget via email to transfer"AT"uni-hamburg.de. Transfer laboratory for innovative, collaborative, and crisis-proof entrepreneurship

The transfer laboratory enables the circular development of innovative, crisis-proof, and sustainable business practices and community-based business models, the testing of such practices and models, and the implementation of these in practice.

Meeting Up!

Since the pandemic, many employees have been working at home rather than at the office. As a result, meetings more often take place virtually. This project focuses on changes in cooperation. The Meeting Up! blog posts findings and other research on working from home, virtual teams, and in-house innovations.

Building resilience and adaptation to climate change through information technology and climate services

Successful adaptation to crisis requires timely and accessible information, which enables informed decision making in complex and uncertain environments. By setting up an innovative information system through mobile phone SMS the project aims to deliver timely weather and technological information to ensure climate change adaptation for farmers in Benin.
