Science for Society Funding Line

This is the first year that the Ministry of Science, Research, Equalities and Districts called for applications in the Science for Society funding line. The grant application for the CC-Lab was submitted jointly by the Research Office for Social Innovation (ROSI), the Aktivoli Landesnetzwerk e.V., the BürgerStiftung Hamburg, and Hamburg’s Ministry of Social Affairs. Next semester, the cocreative seminar will begin in cooperation with the Hamburg Haus des Engagements. Using a community-based research approach, students will conduct social science research alongside members of the general public.

City dwellers face complex and multiple safety issues that lead increasingly to uncertainty among the population. Against this backdrop, the SiSta project, which is dedicated to safe urban spaces, will organize participatory workshops with members of the public to rethink and develop urban safety and the roles of urban residents and private citizens in creating a safe city for everyone. The workshop findings will be presented in a public gathering and discussed with authorities representing the City of Hamburg, the police, and the judiciary.
