SOLVING PROBLEMS EFFECTIVELY THROUGH INTERDISCIPLINARY THINKING
The Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Public and Nonprofit Studies (PUNO) offered by the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Hamburg provides interdisciplinary, practical training for the public and non-profit sectors. We train competent generalists for public administration and civic society who are able to problem-solve and work across disciplines.
The program covers 4 semesters and is divided into various modules. In the first semester, basic knowledge and methods lay the groundwork for a sound understanding of the public and non-profit sectors. You will gain broad knowledge of areas such as management, sociology, economics, and law.
Develop your own profile
Benefit from the opportunity to follow your interests in this interdisciplinary program. The range and variety of topics is inspiring and offers an opportunity to develop your own individual profile in the public and/or non-profit sectors. Perhaps you are planning your career in areas such as administration and management, education and culture, environment and sustainability, international development cooperation, or you are going into research. If so, you can best prepare by doing a doctorate. In the fourth semester, you generally devote yourself to your master's thesis, for which carry out an independent research project and demonstrate your scholarly skills.
Expand your horizons!
How is public administration and the community organized in Georgia? What do people in Taiwan think about non-profit organizations or how do our career opportunities in the public sector compare with those in Switzerland?
Nothing is as valuable as thinking outside the box. In this program, you have the opportunity to study abroad if you wish. Ideally, you should plan your semester abroad for the third semester. Through our exchange program and close cooperation with renowned partner universities in Bern, Lausanne, Taipei, and the Institute of Public Affairs in Tbilisi, we foster international thinking. Our International Office provides you with further information on funding your stay abroad.
