MSc Health Economics & Health Care Management
Welcome to the website of the Master of Science in Health Economics and Health Care Management
Program objectives: Students acquire academic and professional knowledge in health economics and health care management. The program is aimed at students seeking qualifications for work in (a) academia, (b) the health care industry (e.g., hospitals, health insurance funds, pharmaceutical and/or medical devices companies, associations of health care providers), and (c) public and not-for-profit institutions in the health care sector.
Target group: Students with a bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, health economics, business engineering, or business mathematics.
Bilingual: The program is bilingual. Some courses are taught in German while others are taught in English. To enroll in the program, a proof of adequate German proficiency must be submitted. For further information, see the university’s language requirements.
Admission: We accept applications between 1 June and 15 July each year (programm start in October). In the category "admission" you can find information about the admission requirements.
Incoming students and free movers: We welcome incoming students from our Erasmus exchange agreement partners as well as accepted free movers from other universities. Incoming students and free movers may visit only courses in English. No German language skills are required.

Excellent research: The program is run by the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Science and the Faculty of Business Administration (Hamburg Business School) of the Universität Hamburg in close cooperation with the Hamburg Center for Health Economics (HCHE). The HCHE, a joint center of the two aforementioned Faculties and the University Medical Center Hamburg Eppendorf (UKE), is one of Europe's largest research centers for health economics.
Diverse studies: Six professors, two junior professors, and two heads of junior research groups at the Hamburg Center for Health Economics (HCHE) offer a wide range of courses and an opportunity for state-of-the-art training.
Partnerships: The HCHE has excellent contacts within the health care sector and to international universities. Master´s theses can be written in cooperation with institutions from the health care industry. We have Erasmus agreements with the University of Bologna, Erasmus University Rotterdam, the University of Oslo and the University of Southern Denmark in Odense.
