MSc PUNO—OUR ALUMNI TESTIMONIALS
PUNO is a good decision! Our ALUMNI talk about their personal experiences during their studies and the paths they took after graduation.
Charlotte Aßmann

During the PUNO master's, Charlotte deepened her interest in the management of non-profit organizations. She spent some time in Africa and gained practical organizational experience. After completing her master's degree, she headed a small fundraising team and has now chosen to return to the University of Hamburg. She now works as a research associate for Prof. Silke Boenigk and is pursuing a doctorate.
"Thanks to the diverse and interdisciplinary range of courses, the PUNO master's qualifies students both for starting a career in the field AND in research."
Ela Polat
Ela stayed at the University of Hamburg after completing her bachelor's in socioeconomics and was able to seamlessly continue her studies in public management in the PUNO program. She remains true to her interests even after graduating, moving to the Federal Employment Agency and designing, planning, and evaluating measures to make it easier for the long-term unemployed to re-enter the world of work.
"My studies gave me the opportunity to spend a wonderful, very instructive semester abroad at National Taiwan University. I can wholeheartedly recommend it."
Liora Jaffe
Liora is a native Californian and did her bachelor's in sociology and law at the University of California Berkeley before moving to Germany. Before doing her master's degree at the University of Hamburg, Liora worked for an international humanitarian aid organization in Berlin. She currently works in the non-profit sector as a project coordinator in the field of food waste and poverty reduction.
"The PUNO master's program has enabled me to strengthen my international profile. Not only by offering courses in English, but also through international seminars and the opportunity to take part in an international research conference."
Jan Morgenstern
Jan came to the University of Hamburg with a bachelor's degree in sociology, politics, and economics from Zeppelin University. With the PUNO master's, he remained true to the principle of interdisciplinarity: analyzing the effects of social programs and organizations and their management require the cooperation of different disciplines. Since completing his master's degree, Jan has worked as a consultant and evaluator for ministries, universities, and non-profit organizations.
"The design of the degree program allows for individual organization and has enabled me to devote myself to the topics and issues that really interest me."
Nora Quetschlich-Willems
Prior to her master's degree, Nora did her BA in socioeconomics at the University of Hamburg. She chose PUNO to support civil society not just as a volunteer but with sound training in the field.
After initially working in fundraising for an international environmental non-governmental organization and as a consultant, she now works for Hamburg Leuchtfeuer.
"The PUNO master's gives you the chance to combine professional expertise with deeper meaning in your work and thus strengthen civil society in the long term."
Martin Sievert

Martin discovered his interest in public management while doing his bachelor’s in socioeconomics at the University of Hamburg. During the PUNO program, he developed a greater desire to work in research and pursue a doctorate. He now works as a research associate at chair for general business administration, public and non-profit management at the University of Mannheim.
"The proven research focus of the PUNO master’s was enriching and made my start in research easier. Among other things, my first scientific publication resulted from a research study that I conducted as part of the student research project."
