Services for international visiting scholars: Getting settled in Hamburg

The Service for Visiting Scholars will assist you with all questions that may arise upon your arrival and in the course of your stay at Universität Hamburg.

Finding accommodation

We will help you in selecting a city district that meets your requirements and offer advice and support for newcomers in need of an accommodation. We recommend that you contact the University Guest House directly and well in advance of your arrival in Hamburg. International Housing is another recommendable option.

Childcare

We can provide information about childcare centers, day care vouchers (KiTa-Gutscheine), schools in Hamburg, and on anything else you might need. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

City of Hamburg

The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg is very diverse and offers a broad range of recreational activities. Feel free to ask us for information if you want to explore the local cultural and sports offers.

Hamburg Welcome Center

The Service for Visiting Scholars cooperates closely with the city-operated Hamburg Welcome Center (HWC). We'd be glad to make an appointment with our colleagues at the Hamburg Welcome Center for you. The HWC's friendly staff provide comprehensive infomation and all necessary paperwork for new arrivals.
