Research Centers
Scholars from the Department of Socioeconomics are active in the following Faculty research centers (links lead to individual web pages):
Center for Sustainable Society Research
The Center for Sustainable Society Research (CSS) aims to broaden the understanding of social and economic institutions and processes of modern societies with regard to sustainability. The Center is particularly concerned with the societal reconfigurations induced by climate change, which are regarded as central drivers of sustainability transformations. The common focus of research at CSS is on the conditions and perspectives of a "society of sustainability" that combines ecological responsibility with a focus on social justice and democratic legitimacy. Externally funded research projects at the CGG contribute to the Faculty’s international visibility in these research areas.
Hamburg Center for Health Economics
The Hamburg Center for Health Economics (HCHE) is an inter-faculty research center run jointly by the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences; the Faculty of Business Administration (Hamburg Business School); and the Faculty of Medicine at University of Hamburg. The interdisciplinary HCHE contributes substantially to health economics research in Germany and abroad. Research at the HCHE focuses on financing and health care, economic evaluation, hospitals and doctors, pharmaceutical markets, and public health. The HCHE is also home to the Research Training Group "Managerial and economic dimensions of health care quality", which is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) as structured PhD program in health economics.
