The Center for Globalization and Governance
The CGG is an interdisciplinary research center of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences at the Universität Hamburg. The Centre aims to increase understanding of processes and effects of globalization by contributing to the development of ongoing empirical research and the theoretical and methodological frameworks used to analyze the interactions of globalization, societal developments, and different forms of governance. Specifically, the CGG carries out international comparative analysis of the (sometimes highly contradictory) changes in institutional constellations caused by processes such as globalization, EU integration, and endogenous processes of change in national societies, as far as these are accompanied by changes in governance structures. The CGG also explores the development of institutions and governance structures, processes of cultural change, and practices of normative change in local, national, international, and transnational realms.
