Degree programs in cooperation with the subject group
In addition to the German-language master’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication, the journalism and mass communication subject group also offers an English-language, international degree program: the Erasmus Mundus degree program Journalism, Media and Globalisation: The European Perspective—an EU-funded master’s program, with students from all over the world and in cooperation with 5 European universities. The Academic Director is Prof. Dr. Irene Neverla, the degree program coordinator is Dr. Monika Pater.
At Universität Hamburg, the subject group is also involved in the following bachelor’s degree programs: the Bachelor of Arts in Sociology (in the Department of Social Sciences in the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences) and the Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communication Studies in the Faculty of Humanities. It also participates in the Master of Arts degree program SICSS at the CliSAP cluster of excellence, which pursues the development of an interdisciplinary, integrated climate studies program. The journalism and mass communication subject group is part of the Department of Social Sciences within the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences.
