Degree programs in cooperation with the subject group
In 2026, the department will start the English-language master's program “Communication and Journalism Research for a Sustainable Society” (ComSustain). Anyone interested in media, digitalization, and sustainability who would like to understand how media change and social transformations are connected can apply until March 31, 2026.
We also offer a minor in journalism and communication studies (Bachelor of Arts).
The department also contributes its expertise on the role of media and journalism in democracy and society, methods of social science research, and climate communication to the M.Sc. program “Integrated Climate System Science” (ICSS) as well as to the MA and BA programs in Sociology and Political Science.
The Master's program in Journalism and Communication Studies will be phased out. Therefore, prospective students are encouraged to consider the above-mentioned programs, in which we contribute our expertise in the fields of journalism, media change, digitalization, and sustainability.
