The European Group for Organizational Studies Conference took place from 4.-6. July in Milan. Under the theme “Crossroads for Organizations: Time, Space and People” 2200 scholars from more than 60 countries discussed their work on Organization Studies.
Pia Geisemann and Daniel Geiger participated in the Sub-theme "The Experience of Space and Place in Extreme Contexts" and presented their paper "Coming from different places: The experience of urgency in multi-actor crisis settings". The paper examines how urgency is socially constructed and contested, especially in crises that develop over longer periods of time and in different locations simultaneously. The discussion following the presentation provided valuable feedback and new inspiration for further work on the project.
Daniel Geiger and Iris Seidemann were invited to present and discuss their paper “From Periphery to Center Stage: The Emergence of Unintended Dynamics in Addressing Climate-Induced Disasters” in Sub-theme 25 - Collaborating for the Future: Organizing across Organizations for Societal Challenges from a Practice and Process Perspective.
We are back from a week filled with stimulating intellectual discussion, lots of networking and the pleasure of being part of a vibrant community of scholars.
