The nature of work is changing. Since the coronavirus pandemic at the latest, (knowledge) work has often been done virtually, with flexible work locations and times. Employees want to get involved, work autonomously and experience meaning in their work. Agile, self-organized working methods are on the rise. However, these new ways of working have a “dark side”, too: blurring work-life boundaries, work-family conflict, information and communication technology overload, to name just a few. In this course, we critically reflect different concepts of new ways of working. The aim of this course is to provide students with a combination of theoretical and applied knowledge on the changing nature of work. The course focuses on both the challenges and opportunities.
