From June 3rd through June 6th, Iris Seidemann and Samantha Sansone participated in the “Enhanced Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment (EVCA) Training of Facilitators” in Abuja, Nigeria. The training took place as an activity of the REBUMAA project co-funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and IDRC. The training was facilitated by the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). The EVCA presents a participatory tool developed to increase community capacities and resilience and constitutes a key methodological step in the REBUMAA project. Each training day consisted of various workshops, group work, and presentations meant to familiarize the participants with the EVCA as a whole, as well as support them in internalizing the process and individual tools they will be utilizing. Iris and Sam gained important insights into different tools to assess the vulnerabilities and capacities of communities and will share and use these skills for further project activities.
