The Promise of Security in Catastrophic Times
The German Research Foundation (DFG) has approved the interdisciplinary research group The Promise of Security in Catastrophic Times (PROMISE). During the first funding phase, from 2026 to 2030, the researchers will examine how democratic governments and societies in Europe struggle for shaping the priorities and limits of protection and security as central promises and fundamental values.
In Subproject 6 (RP6), Defensive Publics and their Imagined Security – Communities in the Digital Realm, Katharina Kleinen-von Königslöw and Laura Liebig will use discourse and content analysis to investigate how defensive publics in the digital realm undermine democratic security promises from within.
More information can be found on the projectpage.
