Prof. Dr. Katharina Kleinen-von Königslöw has been appointed to the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Science in August 2016. Her research focuses on digital communication and its implications for the political public sphere, with a particular interest in sustainability as an issue.
The research interests of Katharina Kleinen-von Königslöw are
- content, reception and effects of digital political communication (particularly via social networks and/or smartphones)
- debates about sustainable (climate friendly) lifestyles in social networks
- transformations of the political public sphere due to digitalization: individualization, transnationalization and entertainization
- dysfunctionality of digital public spheres: Mis- and desinformation, information and opinion bubbles
- transnational communikation and comparative research on media systems and cultures
- quantitative and qualitative methods, with a focus on digital methods
