The Cluster of Excellence „Climate, Climatic Change, and Society (CliCCS)“ (climate research) at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences, Department of Socioeconomics, Center for Earth System Research and Sustainability (CEN) is looking for a research associate (§ 28 subsection 3 HmbHG). It is a full-time position suitable for part-time, the salary level is EGR.13 TV-L. Start date is 01.07.2023 and the working hours are fixed until 31.12.2025 (This is a fixed-term contract in accordance with Section 2 of the academic fixed-term labor contract act [Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz, WissZeitVG]).
Responsibilities
Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications.
Specific Duties
The person holding the post will conduct research on the dynamics of climate governance and in particular contribute to the quantitative analysis of the political support for and the effectiveness of climate policy instruments and/or how climate predictions shape preferences and policies. Moreover the person will play a crucial role in linking approaches and findings within the “Dynamics of Climate Governance” project and in connecting with other natural and social science projects within CliCCS.
Requirements
A university degree in a relevant field plus doctorate.
A university degree and doctorate in economics, political science or another social science field relevant to the project. Applicants should be able to demonstrate prior experience in conducting interdisciplinary research while also having a strong foundation in their own respective discipline. Successful candidiates are expected to have expertise in quantative empirical methods ideally including survey-based experiments. Familiarity with a variety of different scientific approaches and empirical methods including both qualitative and quantitative skills is desirable. Applicants should show evidence of developing a track record of internationally recognized research worthy of publication in highly-ranked, peer-reviewed academic journals, commensurate with the candidate’s career stage. Prior working experience at the PostDoc level is a plus as is a strong expertise in the economics and governance of climate change.
