Digital KOLLEG-LECTURE: Lecture by Prof. Matthias Thiemann, PhD (SciencesPo, Centre d`études européennes et de politique comparée, Paris): “Central banks’ engagement with climate change: agents of control, transformation or modernization?”
Comment by Prof. Dr. Aaron Sahr (Hamburg Institute for Social Research HIS)
Prof. Matthias Thiemann, PhD, is Fellow at our Centre. Matthias Thiemann is a sociologist with close affinities to political economy. In his work, he seeks to analyze how financial market regulators seek to shape the behavior of market actors and reshape markets in order to prevent financial instability. In his time at the Centre, he investigates the engagement of central banks with the theme of climate change and their attempt to steer financial market actors both to incorporate the risks from this phenomenon as well as to contribute to the transition of the economy towards a carbon-neutral mode of production ("green finance").
