A post-doctoral position is available at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, Chair of Science Studies and Innovation Research (Prof. Dr. Sabine Maasen).
This is a part-time, full-time position, salary level EGR. 13 TV-L.
The starting date is 01.03.2022, the position is limited until 31.10.2024. (This is a fixed-term contract in accordance with Section 2 of the academic fixed-term labour contract act [Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz, WissZeitVG]).
Duties primarily include teaching and research. Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications.
The position is affiliated with the Professorship for Science Studies and Innovation Research (Prof. Dr. Sabine Maasen) and funded under the Excellence Strategy of the Federal Government and the Länder. The professorship was created as part of Universität Hamburg’s excellence strategy to strengthen knowledge exchange between science and society within and beyond Hamburg Metropolitan Region. In this vein, the professorship pursues the goal of better understanding, accompanying and helping to shape innovation processes.
The successful candidate is expected to play a pivotal part in driving research on transfer as an integral part of academic identity. From the perspective of science and technology studies (STS) and higher education research, an interdisciplinary research program on the relationship between transfer-related science, ubiquitous innovation activity and society is to be established. A specific task of the position is to prepare the grant application for a research group on „Balancing Excellence and Relevance: Towards a New Academic Culture“ (working title). Furthermore, the tasks of the appointee include teaching five hours per week during term time.
