Iris Seidemann took part in the Global Dialogue Platform held in Berlin from October 22 to October 24, 2024. The Global Dialogue Platform provides an interactive space for the anticipatory action community to share knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned, driving a fundamental shift in the humanitarian system from reaction to anticipation of disasters. During the panel, “Anticipatory Action: Explorations of Who is Left Behind and How to Close the Gap,” Iris, alongside other members of CLARE (link) projects, discussed key challenges in anticipatory action (AA), emphasizing the need to address inclusivity and accessibility for vulnerable groups and shared insights from the REBUMAA project (link). This discussion underscored the importance of integrating indigenous knowledge and local perspectives to improve AA effectiveness. The conference provided valuable insights, sparking new directions for research and practical approaches in AA, with a particular focus on increasing complexity and mainstreaming anticipatory action approaches.
