Prof. Dr. Rick Vogel has successfully obtained a DFG grant for a project on "Relational Schemas in State-Citizen Interactions".
Citizens are increasingly involved in the design, implementation or evaluation of public goods and services. The project develops a socio-cognitive approach to active citizen participation. The core of the new frame of reference is the notion of relational schemas. Relational schemas of state-citizen interactions are mental maps that guide citizens and public officials through their collaboration. Such schemas include implicit assumptions about typical and ideal characteristics of public servants and citizens, as well as interactional scripts of their collaboration. The project is implemented in a case study design with two cases (Taiwan and Germany) and continues the research cooperation of the M.Sc. PUNO with the National Taiwan University (NTU).
