Ms Ranft was the "organisational linchpin" of our professorship. She passed away after a serious illness on 07.06.2023. You can find the obituary of the Department of Social Economics here.
Her path to the Department of Social Economics led via her training as a foreign language secretary in Quito, Ecuador, via the chief secretary's office at the Hamburg Institute for Industrial Market and Advertising Research Prof. Strothmann (capital goods marketing), then followed by a position as campaign assistance in the areas of climate, transport and genetic engineering at Greenpeace and finally her successful studies of Socioeconomics with a focus on economics at the then Hamburger Universität für Wirtschaft und Politik (HWP).
During her studies, Ms Ranft worked as a student assistant inside and outside the HWP, was involved in the academic self-administration as a representative of the 81st cohort of students, got involved in the women student's association FLK and, during the last three semesters of her studies, led the campaign "HWP smoke-free! Fresh air for all!" to success.
After completing her Diploma I, she worked for the then head of the Service Centre for Students, followed by two years in the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences. From 2009 until her sudden passing, Ms Ranft has worked as a secretary for Professor Fritsche.
