Title: "The last pigs: The political economy of the green transition in the Danish pig-meat industry"
Abstract:
The focus of this talk is mapping current developments in the Danish pig meat industry, with a focus on the role of organised labour. Against the background of broader changes in the global value chain of pig meat, the Danish sector has come under intensive pressure, not just economically but also politically. How do worker representatives and unions position themselves vis-à-vis employers and other actors? How can we understand the class politics inherent in processes of restructuring in an industry that stands in direct contradiction with the green transition that is necessary in the climate and ecological emergency?
The HPS³ seminars take place in person at the UHH. Please find the seminar program on the HPS³ Website.
We invite everyone interested to attend the HPS Seminar Series and are looking forward to seeing you.
