Admission requirements
1. Bachelor’s degree
Applicants must have completed a Bachelor’s degree in
- economics,
- business administration,
- socioeconomics with a specialization in economics or business administration,
- or health economics.
Exception: Applicants who did not study one of the courses mentioned above, must provide evidence of knowledge in all of the following subjects:
- Mathematics (5 ECTS credit points)
- Descriptive Statistics (5 credits)
- Inductive Statistics (5 credits)
- Business Administration: Management specialization (5 credits) and Finance and Accounting (5 credits)
- Economics: Microeconomics (5 credits)
Applicants who are unable to demonstrate knowledge in all of the above-mentioned subjects, do not meet the admission requirements and will not be considered in the application process.
2. Proof of German language skills (only applies to foreign students)
It is necessary for all applicants to submit proof of sufficient German language skills with the application for enrollment within the enrollment deadline. The proof of German language skills constitutes an admission requirement.

3. Proof of English language skills
As a student at the University of Hamburg, it is also necessary to have sufficient English language skills. This is because some courses are held in English and students might be required to read literature in English. You don’t need to prove your language skills in the form of a language certificate; an informal confirmation is sufficient.
