Specialization Phase
The specialization phase comprises the second and third year (semesters 3 to 6).
Disciplinary Qualification
In the specialization phase doctoral researchers will have to take two elective courses that are keyed to their particular research topic. These courses are advanced specialized courses on collective decision-making or on empirical and experimental methods that are relevant for the study of collective decision-making. In addition doctoral researchers can take opportunity of a number of optional research seminars, colloquia and public lecture series organized by the different departments.
Interdisciplinary Qualification
The interdisciplinary qualification program consists of two compulsory research seminars (PhD seminar and Interdisciplinary Research Seminar) and two workshops.
Professional Skills
This phase consists of one compulsory job market seminar and an optional course on science communication and knowledge transfer. In addition, doctoral researchers can gain experience in academic management. They will be encouraged and supported in their own initiatives to organize workshops and retreats or outreach activities.
