Thematic Semester
With the concept of the thematic semester, we, as the Department of Social Economics, want to face the constant task of bringing socially relevant questions and problems into academic discussion. In doing so, we want to contribute to the further development of university teaching in a problem-oriented, socially relevant and practice-oriented manner, in order to organize "scientific freedom in social responsibility" true to the mission statement of our university and thus "contribute to the development of a humane, democratic and just society".
The term thematic semester describes the joint, interdisciplinary treatment of a socio-economic topic over one or more semesters. In this way, problem-oriented teaching and research is carried out, larger contexts are understood and scientific projects are taken up from the social development. In this way, an interdisciplinary, more practice-oriented contribution to science and society is pursued.
