Qualification Program

Interdisciplinary Qualification

The interdisciplinary qualification program consists of the following courses, workshops and seminars.

First Semester

  • Research Methods and Theories of Collective Decision-Making: This course will provide an overview of the theories and methodological approaches to the study of collective decision-making in the respective disciplines and will be the common denominator for all doctoral researchers. This course is also conceived as a platform for exchange and inspiration across the disciplines and the foundation for the PhD and interdisciplinary research seminars.
  • Frontiers Workshop: The workshop will focus on state-of-the-art research on collective decisions in economics, philosophy and political science and aims at preparing the doctoral researchers to define their own research agenda.

Second Semester

  • Perspectives Workshop: At the start of the second semester doctoral researchers will have to present a first outline of their research agenda in the “Perspectives Workshop”.
  • Interdisciplinary Research Seminar: This is a regular seminar in which distinguished scholars from other national and international universities will present their latest research on collective decision-making.
  • Summer School: At the end of the second semester there will be a two-week summer school with two intensive courses taught by external experts.
