Stimulating discussion and input at the CSS opening event

On Tuesday, 28th Januar 2020, the Center for Sustainable Society celebrated it's opening with many guests and members.
After opening speeches of CSS' executive director Prof. Dr. Stefan Aykut and the dean of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Gabriele Löschper, Dr. Christophe Bonneuil, historian at CNRS, Paris gave an inspiring talk about the concept of "Ecosocialities".
Subsequently, the audience could follow the exciting panel discussion on the question whether a social transformation towards a sustainable society must be accomplished "with or against the market". Discussants were journalist Mark Schieritz from Die ZEIT, Dr. Anke Butscher from "Economy for the Common Good", Prof. Dr. Andreas Barckow, economist and president of the Accounting Standards Committee of Germany (ASCG), Dr. Hans-Jürgen Urban, executive director of trade union IG Metall and Prof. Dr. Anita Engels, professor for Sociology, especially globalisation, environment and society at Universität Hamburg.
After the intellectual input, the guests and CSS members continued to share their ideas whilst enjoying drinks and live music by the Duo Abfratz Hasenzieher.
