On July 4, the anthology "Schlüsselwerke der sozialwissenschaftlichen Klimaforschung" was published by transcript Verlag [in German]. In the work, edited by Youssef Ibrahim and CSS member Simone Rödder, central social science contributions to the climate discourse are presented and discussed in more than 30 individual reviews. Collective reviews on specific topics in social science climate research and thematic essays round out the 464-page volume.
While climate research has long been considered a purely natural science endeavor, it is increasingly being pursued in the social sciences as well. The popularization in and outside academia has not only led to new research areas, but also produced a growing confusion: A need has arisen to explore disciplinary entry points, interdisciplinary connection possibilities, and transdisciplinary opportunities for exchange. The contributions of this volume address central key works of social science climate research and thus provide a first and orienting access to this field of research.
