A group of CSS members toghether with colleagues from other research institutions has successfully published a paper in the scientific journal GAIA - Ecological Perspectives for Science and Society. The CSS members that have contributed to the article are Angela Pohlmann, Kerstin Walz, Anita Engels, Stefan Aykut, Hauke Feddersen, Annabarbara Friedrich, and Felix Schenuit.
The paper "It’s not enough to be right! The climate crisis, power, and the climate movement" describes that the support for climate movements such as Fridays for Future is stagnating despite increasingly pressing disasters and a societal increase in the need for knowledge. In future, concentrating on scientific evidence will no longer be sufficient to persuade the decisive actors to make a necessary change of direction in climate policy. Starting with the perception of the plurality of social realities, the authors explain which social factors are at work and how the climate movement can benefit if they incorporate these factors into actions for social change.
