How we can act consistently on climate protection is the subject of controversial debate. A well-founded factual basis is indispensable for such a discussion. Six organisations, including the DKK (German Climate Consortium), have therefore published an updated version of their paper on what is now undisputed knowledge in climate research - from its scientific foundations, the consequences in Germany and around the world, to the targets agreed in Paris.
You can download the paper here [in German].
The paper succinctly shows in plain language that the global warming we are currently experiencing is a fact and that human activity is the main cause. Despite 30 years of international climate policy, more and more greenhouse gases continue to accumulate in the atmosphere and exacerbate climate change. What is needed are lasting and profound structural changes in all areas of society - from the energy system to land use and infrastructure. The fact sheet was first published in September 2020 and updated with the latest figures in June 2021.
