Urban growth, climate change, resource exploitation and currently the Corona pandemic are pressing global problems and raise unresolved issues: cities and urban centers are the places where the future is shaped and problem solutions are initiated. The Research Training Group is concerned with future-oriented strategies and interventions of "urban future-making" focused on the built environment. The activities of the Research Training Group focus on the areas of mobility, energy supply and material use, in which the urgency of comprehensive changes is particularly visible. The central question is how responsible action and the future shaping of the urban environment is possible under current conditions, crises and uncertainties. The project brings together researchers from the social sciences and from building and planning-related sciences and enables interdisciplinary knowledge production for the future of cities.
