Dissertation Project
My dissertation project focuses on the relationship between intergenerational solidarity and old age poverty in European welfare states in the context of demographic change. In doing so, I examine (a) the influence of career breaks due to domestic care work on old age poverty as well as (b) the changed conditions and potentials for intergenerational solidarity. Using representative longitudinal and cross-sectional data, the aim is to identify differences and similarities between European welfare states and to shed light on the influence of social policy measures.
Prof. Dr. Petra Böhnke and Prof. Dr. Henning Lohmann supervise the dissertation project. Moreover, it is part of the collaborative research project “Sorgetransformationen”.
