Dr. Tetiana Dovbischuk received Best Dissertation Award 2026 of the International Society for Quality-of-Life Studies (ISQOLS)!
The committee noted:
“At the intersection of urban studies, sociology, and quality-of-life research, your work offers a compelling, theory-driven analysis of green spaces and well-being. The unifying framework you develop, linking green space exposure, well-being, and relocation decisions, represents a meaningful contribution to the field. The committee was particularly impressed by how your research demonstrates the role of green spaces in buffering urban stressors, an insight of growing importance as cities confront climate change and seek to maintain quality of life under increasing pressure. Your work speaks directly to urban planning and public policy, aligning closely with ISQOLS’s commitment to applied social science. Methodologically, your dissertation stands out for its strength and depth. The extensive original data collection, including large samples, oversampling strategies, CATI interviews, and longitudinal follow-up, reflects a high level of care and sophistication. Your distinction between private, shared, and public green spaces adds further nuance and value to the analysis. The quality of your work is also reflected in your publications in leading journals.”
The award was presented at a ceremony on August 14, 2026, during the ISQOLS International Conference in Kentucky, USA. The award committee was chaired by Dr. Francesco Sarracino (National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies of Luxembourg), Prof. Graciela Tonon (University of Palermo and National University of Lomas de Zamora, both in Buenos Aires, Argentina), and Prof. Javier Martinez (University of Twente, Netherlands).
