The Professorship for Ecologization and Quantitative Methods of Social Research addresses the empirical investigation of attitudes and behaviors in modern societies from the perspective of ecological and social sustainability. One focus is migration research, particularly explaining internal migration. In this context, we are also concerned with the emergence of spatial commuting and its social consequences. Our research also focuses on aspects of socio-ecological behavior, such as the relevance of the surroundings when choosing where to live.
The Professorship is part of Universität Hamburg’s social sciences sustainability cluster and offers a wide range of courses with relevant topics as well as methods courses from bachelor to doctoral levels. We take a theory driven, micro-sociological research approach.
