How to Apply for the Master’s Program in PEP

Prepare the following documents before starting your online application:

Degree certificate

If not yet available: a current Transcript of Records confirming your provisional GPA. You must submit the final certificate by the end of your first semester.

• Documents not issued in German or English must be submitted with a certified translation.

• If your degree is from outside Germany, make sure your grading scale (minimum pass grade and highest possible grade) is visible on your transcript. If not, include a separate proof.
  
  

Graduate Records Examination (GRE) General Test result

Submit via the STiNE application portal. Your GRE scores also confirm your English language proficiency — no separate language certificate required.

The entire application takes place through the University of Hamburg's STiNE application portal. No paper documents or emails are required.

• Create a user account on the STiNE application portal.
• Select the application form "Politics, Economics and Philosophy (WiSe 27/28, admission restricted)".
• Enter your personal information.
• Upload all required documents.
• Submit your application electronically by 31 March.
  
  

Special Applications (e.g. hardship applications) must be submitted separately via the online portal with the required supporting documents by the same deadline.

If more applicants fulfill the admission requirements than places are available, admitted candidates are selected by ranking based on the following criteria:

• Final or current GPA: 40 %
• GRE Verbal Reasoning: 20 %
• GRE Quantitative Reasoning: 20 %
• GRE Analytical Writing: 20 %

You will be notified of the decision via your STiNE account under "Documents".

Admission results will be published in your application account.

If you are admitted, your acceptance letter will include an enrollment deadline. Please submit the documents required for enrollment by this date.
