Kurzbiographie
Antje Wiener holds the Chair of Political Science, especially Global Governance at the University of Hamburg where she is a member of the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences as well as the Law Faculty. She is an elected By-Fellow of Hughes Hall University of Cambridge, a Fellow of the UK’s Academy of Social Sciences, and a Member of the Academia Europea. Her research and teaching centres on International Relations (IR) theory, especially norms research and contestation theory. And previously she held Chairs in International Studies at Queen’s University Belfast and the University of Bath and taught at the Universities of Stanford, Carleton, Sussex and Hannover. New research projects funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) address the themes of ‘Varieties of Climate Agency’ at the Cluster of Excellence Climate, Climatic Change and Society (CLICCS II: 2026-2032) and the ‘Conceived through Practice: Unearthing the Security Promise Norm and its Contested Meanings at the Research Group on The Promise of Security in Catastrophic Times (2026-2029) at the University of Hamburg. With James Tully, she is founding editor of Global Constitutionalism with Cambridge University Press (since 2012). She also edits the Springer Series on Norm Research in International Relations (since 2019). Currently, she serves as a member of the International Advisory Board for the Academy of Social Sciences, the Advisory Board of the Centre for Climate Engagement (CCE) at Hughes Hall, Cambridge, and the Advisory Board for the Global International Relations Section at the International Studies Association. Her book ‘Contestation and Constitution of Norms in Global International Relations’ (CUP 2018) was awarded the International Law Section’s Book Prize in 2020. ‘Contesting the World: Norm Research in Theory and Practice’ co-edited with Phil Orchard was published in 2024 (CUP 2024).

Sie hat im Rahmen der Initiative “Opus Magnum” der Volkswagenstiftung für den Förderzeitraum vom 1.10.2015 bis 30.9.2017 Mittel für die Vertretung ihrer Professur sowie ergänzende Sachmittel erhalten.
