Guidelines
Guidelines for writing your seminar paper and final thesis
Download our guidelines on academic writing (IN GERMAN) and always follow the instructions explained therein. This applies to term papers, seminar papers, bachelor’s and master’s theses and is binding—implementation thereof will be evaluated as part of your paper or final thesis.
As the author you must ensure that your written work complies with these guidelines. This particularly applies to using the provided document template (IN GERMAN).
Harvard referencing style
Please reference in Harvard style, cf. the APA (American Psychological Association), i.e., cite the author and year directly in the text not in the footnote and list full source details in a reference list at the end. Your bibliography must list sources alphanumerically. Find more details in our academic writing guidelines.
We highly recommend that you use (free) reference management programs such as Citavi. These one-click solutions allow the creation of a correct bibliography, e.g., APA-style. The Carl von Ossietzky State and University Library Hamburg (Stabi) or the departmental library in the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences (WiSo) regularly offer Citavi training courses.
