Prof Vincenzo della Sala has been invited by Research Area 4 of the Centre for Globalisation and Governance to discuss recent issues of "narratives" in international politics in an interdisciplinary setting with researchers from the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences as well as the Faculty of Law.
Please find the abstract of his project below:
We are witnessing a “narrative” turn in the social sciences, especially with respect to trying to understand the changing basis of political authority. “narrative” has been used in a number of ways to understand transnational governance, from being a method to being the object of inquiry. The aim of this lecture is to explore the various ways in which we can understand “narrative, as both explanandum and explanans. Using the case of political mythology and European integration, the lecture will address some of the theoretical instruments we can use to understand “narratives” as well as to point out what might be some limitations.
