Can Residential Choice Lead to a Traditionalization of Partnerships?
Anna Stenpaß analysed data from a mixed methods study to examine the division of household labour in connection with commuting. The project was designed as a mixed methods survey, conducted in cooperation with the University of Oldenburg (Prof. Dr. Michael Feldhaus & Dr. Monika Schlegel). It was a satellite study of the German Panel Analysis of Intimate Relationships and Family Dynamics (pairfam). During pairfam’s eighth wave (2015/16) commuting participants were asked to participate in additional in-depth interviews. Out of 600 possible respondents, about 280 agreed to be interviewed again in more detail. About 60 qualitative structured interviews were conducted all over Germany. In total, 22 couples (anchor and partner, the two interviews were conducted separately) and 17 anchor persons were interviewed.
