hroot
hroot (Hamburg Registration and Organization Online Tool)
hroot (Hamburg Registration and Organization Online Tool) is a web-based software designed for managing participants of economic experiments. Using a pre-filtered, specified pool of potential participants, the software sends invitations to participate in an experiment to randomly selected individuals, thus randomising the participants. The way in which prospective participants are selected is being documented thoroughly to allow an exact replication of the experiment later on. Furthermore, hroot offers combinable filter tools and an integrated calender.
hroot is created in a collaborative process and is constantly improved by its users. In order to ease and enhance the cooperation of all interested users of hroot we have set up a GitHub platform. There you will always find the latest version of hroot, as well as a wiki with a detailed installation guide. In GitHub you may also report errors to us. It is possible to document your changes of the hroot code on this collaborative project site, so that the improvements of individual users are quickly available to all other licensees.
In order to obtain the software via the GitHub platform, please register for a (free) user account on https://github.com and send us 4 signed copies of the license agreement. You will immediately receive your own GitHub-User-ID. If you then tell us your GitHub username, we will asap enroll you for the hroot project.
hroot is a software project of the University of Hamburg. If you have questions that go beyond the wiki documentation, please feel free to contact the WiSo-Research Laboratory of the University of Hamburg(hroot.wiso"AT"uni-hamburg.de).
If you want to try out the software, feel free to try out our DemoServer, where you have full control over the hroot system.
Please do not change User, Experimenter or Administrator password or limit their permissions. If you do so, the DemoServer can not be accessed until privileges are restored, causing inconvenience for you and other users. Feel free to try any of the hroot features! If you break something, just come back next day - the database configuration resets every night, which fixes most errors. Databases are also cleaned every night, so please keep in mind to store your data elsewhere if you want to continue working with it.
