Marie Schäfer has been a research assistant at the chair for labor, family, migration, and gender economics (Prof. Dr. Miriam Beblo) since April 2024.
She obtained both her degrees at Universität Hamburg: a B.A. in Socioeconomics in 2021 and an M.A. in „Labor, Economy and Society (Economic and Sociological Studies)“. In her bachelor’s thesis, she analyzed the effect of bilingualism on the income of second-generation migrants in Germany. In her master's thesis, she explored the concept of economic self-sufficiency and examined how it differs between women and men over the course of their lives. In both works, Marie utilized data from the German Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP).
Currently, she is doing her PhD on the Gender Equality Paradox in competitiveness.
