Prof. Dr. Jürgen Beyer and his colleagues are members of the interdisciplinary research centre Earth and Society Research Hub (ESRAH). ESRAH is an interdisciplinary research centre at the University of Hamburg that focuses on the dynamics between society, climate, Earth, and the environment. The centre is composed of members from the Faculty of Mathematics, Information, and Natural Sciences (MIN), the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences (WiSo), and members from the faculties of Business Administration, Law, and Humanities.
Prof. Dr. Jürgen Beyer is a member of the ‘Economic Sociology’ section of the German Sociological Association (GSA) and was a member of the executive committee between 2011 and 2017 and spokesperson for this section between 2015 and 2017. The Economic Sociology Section of the DGS aims to institutionally consolidate economic sociology research and teaching in Germany and promote scientific exchange in this field. Thematically, the section aims to build on international developments in the field of research over the last twenty years. At the same time, it aims to contribute to greater visibility for economic sociology research conducted in Germany.
Prof. Dr. Jürgen Beyer is a member of the Cluster of Excellence ‘Climate, Climatic Change, and Society’ (CLICCS) and participates in the cluster's research topic B, which investigates climate related dynamics of social systems.
