A group of 123 scientists from 27 countries, including members of the Sustainable Finance Research Group from the University of Hamburg, has signed an Open Letter addressed to commission president von der Leyen, green commissioner Timmermans, and financial services commissioner McGuinness. The scientists express their concern about a disconnect between the draft proposal for the EU Taxonomy and the EU Green Deal’s objective of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and argue that "this disconnect is particularly troubling at a time when global climate leadership and environmental integrity is ever more urgent."
The Letter was also covered in The Financial Times and is aimed to be officially posted on the relevant European Commission website on December 9th, 2020.
The whole Letter can be read here.
